One-to-one · At your home · Marchwood, Hythe, Dibden, Holbury, Waterside & Totton
"Every young person can do maths, they just need someone who believes it, and a plan to prove it."
I specialise in Year 10 & 11 GCSE maths, working one-to-one in your home to lift your young person's confidence, sharpen their exam technique, and raise their grade, starting from a clear diagnosis of exactly where they're stuck.
What we're working towards
Every session moves the needle
We'll start with an honest diagnosis of the gaps and not just what's wrong, but why. From there, every session builds a specific skill towards a target grade, with exam technique layered in as GCSEs approach.
The approach
Diagnose, build, prepare
Diagnose
A first session to assess exactly which topics and exam techniques are holding your young person back.
Build
Weekly one-to-one sessions at your home, closing gaps in the right order and building genuine confidence, not just quick fixes.
Prepare
As exams approach, sessions shift to timed papers, mark-scheme technique, and calm, confident exam habits for Foundation or Higher tier.

In their words
What families say
We had the pleasure of Phil tutoring our son for four months in the lead up to his GCSEs. Phil was reliable, professional, knowledgeable and built a great rapport with our son quickly. The whole process boosted our son's confidence to sit the higher tier paper. We would fully recommend Phil as a tutor, and we will be using Phil again for our youngest in the future.
Mrs M
Mr Rhodes taught my son GCSE Higher Maths and in my opinion he is an outstanding mathematics teacher. He is conscientious, patient, and highly structured in his approach, ensuring that an intermediate level student can grasp challenging concepts. His calm and approachable demeanour makes him ideal for teaching 14-16 year old pupils. I have no hesitation in recommending him to other parents.
Mr H
Phil is punctual, polite and easy to talk to. He is enthusiastic and keen to focus on the areas of maths that need more attention or explanation to ensure my daughter had the best chance of getting the best grade she could for her ability. Phil was encouraging, patient and went at her pace. He gave her topics to practise for the following week. Overall we were happy with the lessons provided and my daughter achieved the grade she set out to.
